Turkish coffee was initially brewed in a traditional copper or brass cezve. (a small pot with a long handle used to heat and pour the coffee). The beans were roasted and then ground to a fine powder, mixed with hot water and sugar, and boiled in the cezve. The resulting brew was thick, strong, and full of flavor.

Instead, they should wait until the grounds settle to the bottom of the cup. This tradition is known as (telling the fortune) or (FAL) in Turkish, where the guest turns the cup upside down to let the grounds fall onto the saucer, and a fortune-teller then interprets the shapes and patterns created by the grounds.
