The green passport, also known as the private passport, is a type of passport that has many advantages, and allows its holder wide freedom of movement and obtaining an entry visa to nearly 156 countries around the world with wide facilities, including direct entry or entry visa upon arrival, Or the electronic visa that can be obtained via the Internet, usually smoothly.

This passport is granted to legal persons who are civil servants, public servants, former parliamentarians, mayors, and their families who occupy a certain level and seniority.

Who is granted the green Turkish passport?

A green passport is not limited to government officials and their families, green passports are also granted to:

  • Former members of the Grand National Assembly.

  • Athletes who represent the Turkish national teams abroad.

The importance and advantages of the green Turkish passport

As we mentioned above, the most important advantage of the green Turkish passport is the freedom of movement through it, which is superior to the regular passport, in addition to the ease of obtaining a visa and external transportation.

In addition to the fact that its costs are limited to the price of the passport book only, it is exempted from other fees.

It is also noteworthy that its extraction requires the beginning of applying to the Ministry of the Interior after fulfilling the conditions specified for it, which we will discuss shortly.

Countries that the Green Turkish passport enters without a visa

The Turkish Green Passport enables its holders to enter several countries without any visa, or by obtaining a visa on arrival or online.

The passport must be valid for at least 3 months, and some countries, such as Bulgaria, require that the passport be valid for one year.

How to get a green Turkish passport

The procedures for issuing a green Turkish passport are no different from a normal passport, except that it is exempt from fees. In addition to the need to write a letter requesting this passport to the Ministry of Interior.

The aforementioned passport can also be obtained within approximately 4 days after the completion of sending the required papers, which are:

  • Green passport application addressed to the Ministry of Interior.
  • Personal identity card.
  • Two biometric photos were taken no more than 6 months old
  • Old passport, if any.
  • Legal consent for minors or disabled citizens.
  • If the applicant is retired, a document showing his employment status at the time of retirement must be provided.
  • If he has resigned from his position, a document must be available showing his employment status during the period in which he worked.
  • The cost of issuing the green Turkish passport
  • There are no costs for issuing or renewing a green passport in Turkey, but only book fees must be paid.

The green passport fee for 2022 has been set at 225 Turkish liras only.
